B2 LEVEL

  The B2 is a German exam for young people and adults. It certifies that candidates have acquired advanced language skills and corresponds to the fourth level (B2) of the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). PASSING THE EXAM DEMONSTRATES THAT YOU CAN ... understand the main contents of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics, as well as technical discussions in your own area of specialization, communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is readily possible without a great deal of effort on either side, express your opinion on current issues in a clear and detailed manner, explain your position on a current issue and state the benefits and drawbacks of various options.

B1 LEVEL

  The B1 is a German exam for young people and adults. It certifies that candidates are independent users of the German language and corresponds to the third level (B1) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). PASSING THE EXAM DEMONSTRATES THAT YOU CAN ... understand the main points of information in conversations and texts on familiar matters relating to work, school and leisure time, etc. when clear, standard language is used, deal with most situations typically encountered when travelling in German-speaking countries, express yourself simply and coherently when talking about familiar topics and areas of personal interest, report on experiences and events, describe dreams, hopes and ambitions as well as make short statements and explanations.          

A2 DESCRIPTION

                                         The A2 is a German exam for adults. It requires elementary language skills and corresponds to the second level (A2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR ). PASSING THE EXAM DEMONSTRATES THAT YOU CAN ... understand and use sentences and common expressions in everyday situations, make yourself understood in simple, routine situations demanding an exchange of information on familiar and common topics, describe your background and education, immediate surroundings and other matters associated with your immediate needs in a simple way.

THE LEVEL A1

  The  Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR or CEF for short)   is a standardized guideline used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages across Europe and beyond.  These levels are classified as A1 for beginners, A2 for elementary, B1 for intermediate, B2 for upper intermediate, C1 as advanced, and C2 as mastery. Expath, like many other language schools, splits these levels in half to accommodate students’ time and budget planning (e.g. level A1 is split into A1.1 and A1.2).
